About

Hi, welcome to Outta Luck Furniture.

This thing is ran and operated by me(Keaton).

Who am I? Here’s the gist:

My name is Keaton Klaff - a born-and-raised midwesterner from Tinley Park, IL (shoutout). I studied engineering at Purdue University, then followed work east to Maryland in 2019.

I’ve been captivated by the craft of furniture making since 2018, when I built my first crusty pine 2x4 side table. Something that started as a means to express myself and escape school quickly became an obsession. I’ve spent nearly every day since learning, experimenting, and honing my skills.

In 2021, I came upon the world of chair making through the online presence of furniture maker and author Christopher Schwarz. I completed my first chair based on one of his designs in 2022 and remained deeply obsessed with chairs ever since.

I’m lucky to have learned from many talented chairmakers and craftsmen in this diverse community of hand craft. With the lessons and skills I’ve learned, I strive to honor the long-standing traditions of furniture design and construction, while continuing to push the craft forward with new ideas, perspectives, and curiosity.

My work focuses on utilizing traditional hand tool techniques to create unique, durable, and beautiful objects that will last for generations. I am constantly pushing and exploring the possibilities of design, allowing creativity and passion dictate what comes next.
